The Capital Campaign For HPR Is Entering Its Final Stages |

As of August 2008, the combination of support from the founding clubs, from all the wonderful Founding Contributors, from subscriptions to the loan program, and from pro-bono professional services has combined to create our "useable facility". Thus a 2.5 miles circuit, good paddock area, and an access road are now under construction and will probably (weather permitting) be available for the 2009 racing season. HPR is a reality! Kudos to all.
In fact, in just five short weeks, all the earthmoving, dirt work, and asphalt work has been completed. Please visit the Photo Page for the latest progress report.
The blip in energy costs this past year could not have come at a worse time. In spite of that, a full 2.5 mile track, paddock, and access road are now a reality. However, all of the roughly $3.5 million was needed to provide this "useable facility." Yes, this cost more than we would have ever expected, due in large part to the dramatic increase in oil prices. We wish that it weren't so. . . . but it is! Consequently it is necessary to continue raising funds in order to have the amenities we all desire and deserve.
The good news is there are still lots of potential for funding sources:
- Club members who will use HPR but who haven't yet contributed. If you're in this category, now is the time!
- Existing donors who have expressed, "If you need some more, let me know." If you are one of those wonderful donors, now is also the time!
- Commercial opportunities are opening up for HPR. Due to the fact that HPR is now a reality, the Founding Sponsor program is increasingly attractive to businesses. Please refer to the Contact Us page and contact Greg Kyde for details on commercial business opportunities.
The Capital Campaign will continue on all these fronts so that HPR isn't just a great track, but also a great facility.

To provide some idea of what is needed, a list of amenities, priorities and costs estimates for implementing them is being assembled. The priorities and timing depend on how much and how quickly money is raised, on possible different combinations of buildings, and a lot of other variables. The following targets briefly outline the fund raising task ahead:
- URGENTLY NEEDED - These are the things urgently required for the coming season to be able to race with reasonable convenience. Things like water & electricity services, bathrooms and showers, a workable timing/scoring facility, corner stations, canopies, etc. It is estimated that these basic items will require about $200,000 to $250,000.
- LIFE WOULD BE GREAT - This next level of amenities include such things as classroom/concession building, RV hookups, a PA system, shade porticos, a children's play area, etc. which we would all like to have but aren't quite as urgent for the coming season. These could easily add another $150,000 to $200,000. Thankfully some of these, like RV hookups, also provide revenue potential for HPR thus making their construction additionally desirable.
- THE ULTIMATE FACILITY - Then there are the really nice things like a permanent, shaded pre-grid, garages, paddock Wi-Fi, enlarged paddock, etc. all of which we would all dearly love to have eventually. The timing and feasibility of these kinds of luxuries will be totally dependant on how much is raised and when. These could obviously cost large dollars and may not happen right away, but why not try?
In summary, the objective of the Capital Campaign going forward is to ultimately raise at least $600,000 during the next year and at least $200,000 very quickly to provide for a good opening season. Yes, that's a lot of money and a very big target. But it can be done. It will come not only from donations by individuals, but also from commercial firms and commercial relationships with HPR.

This Is A Unique And Important Opportunity |

Be a part of your facility owned by amateur motorsports clubs and made possible by you, the members. This ensures that High Plains Raceway, unlike a private club, will be available, financially stable and accountable to its club owners and users. It also means this track will always be open to the many of us who love to race, rather than to just an elite few.
Help to create not only a great circuit, but also a great facility!
